The Gold Star Wives of World War II was incorporated 15 December 1945, to help aid widows of World War II soldiers. They changed their name to The Gold Star Wives of America, Inc. in 1948.

Today they provide assistance and a support network to all those who have lost their spouse to a military-related cause of death.
